REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Register at www.apps.hosa.org

Scroll down to “Conferences” and select the “2024 Fall Leadership Conference”.

Username is your charter number.  If you have forgotten your password, you will have to use the forgot password link.

Registration opens on August 30 at 6a.m.

Registration closes on September 20 at 11:59p.m.

 

ATTENDEE TYPES

  • Advisor - $30

  • Advisor & Presenter - $25

  • Bus Driver – Free

  • Chaperone (non-advisor school faculty) - $25

  • Middle School, Secondary, and Postsecondary/Collegiate Students - $35

  • New Chapter – limit 4 – must have State Advisor Approval - $15

  • State Officers – Free

 

OPTIONS/ACTIVITIES

These are options that you will PRE-REGISTER to attend.

  • 1pm K-State Guided Campus Tour – limit 25 attendees total

  • 3pm K-State Guided Campus Tour – limit 25 attendees total

  • Bus – Conference Parking

    • You will be asked to provide a number of busses you are bringing

  • Networking Session & Career Jumping Activity – attendees will be assigned a time for the networking session and a time for career jumping.

    • “HELP! I don’t know how to Network” Session -> Attendees will be assigned a session time. There will be snacks!

    • Limit 24 total per session.

      • 10:15 – 10:45am

      • 11 – 11:30am

      • 11:45am – 12:15pm

    • Career Jumping -> will provide students the opportunity to network with health care professionals, make connections, practice exchanging business cards, etc.

  • Leadership Workshop

    • Chapters can register up to 2 student leaders from their chapter.

    • Attendees must be pre-registered. 

    • Attendees will be assigned one of two session times.

  • Neosho Community College Health Skills Lab

    • Register attendees for a hands-on skills lab. 

    • Attendees will be provided an “entry time” when it will be time for their group to go through the lab.

  • Polos – all polos are $25 each. Offering ladies & mens style. These are a very comfortable, lightweight black polo with full color logo. There is the option to get “Advisor” embroidered under the HOSA logo for no additional charge.

 

 

COMPETITIVE EVENT RELATED SESSIONS

THESE EVENTS REQUIRE PRE-REGISTRATION IN THE CHAPTER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

  • Creative Problem Solving

    • Attendees will attend a brief session explaining the event, guidelines, and expectations.

    • Then this will run as a mock event where students will be given a secret topic, time to create a presentation, and then receive a time to report back to provide their presentation.

    • Attendees are highly encouraged to review the guidelines before FLC.

  • Forensic Science

    • There will be a session about “How to be Successful at the Forensic Science Event” that will be released in the app and open to any interested attendee.

    • Registered attendees will be given a report time and will view a mock crime scene and get pointers on how they should approach the six-minute case study time before having to leave the room and write their analysis.

  • HOSA Bowl

    • Teams must be pre-registered and must be in groups of four.

    • We are currently working on approach but please prepare teams that this will be held in Forum Hall and we will allow an audience so others can come observe what HOSA Bowl is like. There may be some slight variations from the true HOSA Bowl experience.

  • Medical Assisting

    • This event will have three components.

    • First, a brief session on what is medical assisting both as a career and what to expect from the competitive event. (If room is available, attendees can choose to attend this day of but will not have a time to compete.)

    • Then attendees will have a time to report and will experience a mock event. They will not be given assistance or support at this time.  Please ensure that students review the guidelines to have an idea what to expect.

    • At the end of the day (3/4pm), all registered competitors will report to a designated room and the mock judges will have a GENERAL feedback session for competitors.  (If room is available, attendees can choose to attend this day of to learn from the judge feedback).

  • Job Seeking Skills

    • Attendees MUST bring a resume for this event.

    • They will provide their resume and take part in a five-minute interview (standard timing of the event).

    • Immediately after their interview, they will receive feedback regarding their interview and ways they can improve for the future. 

 

THESE EVENTS DO NOT HAVE PRE-REGISTRATION BUT WILL HAVE LIMITED ATTENDEE NUMBERS WHEN RELEASED IN THE APP.

  • CPR

    • We will offer TRAINING, not certification, that will support attendees’ knowledge for competing in the CPR event.

    • Each session will be limited to 25.

    • We will offer two sessions using Red Cross and two sessions using American Heart.

  • Family Medicine Physician

    • There will be a session provided regarding preparing for the Family Medicine Event. 

  • Mental Health Promotion

    • Attendees interested in this event will want to ensure they attend TWO sessions regarding this event.

    • The first will be over building an effective social media campaign and the second will be on risk/protective factors for mental health.

  • Pharmacy Science

    • Attendees will learn about Pharmacy Science education, the profession, and then complete a hands-on lesson. 

    • There will be three 45-minute sessions offered.

  • Medical Law & Ethics

    • We have a lawyer coming in to speak on medical law & ethics as a career and provide background on the important aspects of this career.  The presenters have been provided the competitive event information and will weave links into their discussion.

  • Sports Medicine/Athletic Training

    • We have one confirmed athletic training session that will focus on the skill and professional overview.  This will be limited to 30.

    • We will also have two sessions, limit 20 each, where students will gain hands-on experience with all of the wrapping skills for the Sports Medicine Event.

  • Phlebotomy

    • We will have one session, limited to 20, for advisors only over phlebotomy skills relevant to the classroom and to the event.

    • The second session, also limited to 20, is a cooperative student/advisor session to learn skills relevant to the competitive event.

  • Biotechnology

    • There will be two sessions, limited to 12 each, over micropipetting and one session, limited to 12, over Gel Electrophoresis.

  • Nursing Assisting

    • One session, limited to 20, professional information and hands-on skill related to event.

  • Clinical Nursing

    • One session, limited to 20, “Three Ways to Administer Medication”.

 

OTHER SESSIONS

Registration and sourcing of sessions is still ongoing.  The window for speakers does not close until September 20th.  This list of opportunities and experiences will continue to grow as we get closer to the conference.

 

We also have the new competitive events workshop “Competitions, Collaborations, & Careers” so students will have more opportunities to explore, learn about, and experience events in December at that event.
